My name is Jocelyn and I am participating in English during the Spring Semester. I love being outside and that's why I moved to Florida from Pennsylvania. I never enjoyed the cold weather or snow sports. I played soccer growing up from the time I was 4 until the time I graduated high school. It kept me occupied during my down time from school and I stayed out of trouble. Someday I hope to be a nurse and I am taking classes towards my RN degree. My favorite part of the day is anytime the sun is shining. I take every opportunity I can to go to the beach. If the weather is above 75, I'll definitely be at the beach and I will likely be in the ocean enjoying the waves. Hopefully my career will keep me in a state that has warm weather. My plans are to stay in the south and work hard and enjoy the rest of my life!

My name is Tiffany Beckles. I'm 19 years old and currently studying at Daytona State College. I hope to finish school within the next 4 years and become an attorney. Im a very humble but outgoing person. I like to dance in my spare time. That has always been my escape from the world and a way that I could express my true self to others without even speaking. My name is Valerie Charbonneau and I am nineteen years old. I was born in Montreal, Canada but have lived in Daytona Beach, Florida ever since I can remember. I enrolled in Daytona State College to obtain my bachelors in science, though I plan to transfer to a larger university after two years. After earning a bachelor's degree I hope to be accepted by a prestigious medical school. My long term goal is to become a successful doctor in the medical field as well as an entrepreneur in multiple businesses. I plan to build a legacy for my future generations to come. I want to travel the world and have thought about joining the armed forces to aid me in doing so.

My full name is Salsabeela Umar, but every one who knows me just calls me Bee. I am 23 y/o and was born in raised in California. Though I moved to Daytona Beach in the summer of 2010, after completing my first tour of duty in Afghanistan, to go to college. I have been in the military (Army) for 5 years this month and I love it. I hold the MOS of 31B, meaning that I am a military police, and have served two tours of duty. The first, I mentioned before, and the second tour was also to Afghanistan from January-December 2012. As well as serving in the armed forces, I am currently attending school to get a bachelor's degree in homeland security. Upon completion of school, I hope to stay in the service, or, at the very least, stay n the same field, protecting people and defending my country. Though I am young in the eyes of many, I have lived a very full life with great experiences, and thus far, I am quite satisfied with the way my life has turned out. I love who I have become and truly appreciate everyday that I get to wake up, more so than most people. Life is beautiful and I'll never forget that.

Hi my name is Kelley Dioguardi. I'm 23 years old, born and raised in a small town called Athens in Ohio. I lived there up until I was 18 years old, and then I moved to upstate New York where I attended my first year of college. I went to college for Equine Science Horse Racing Management. My whole life I worked with horses. I used to work at the race track in NY until I got pretty tired of it. I started working in a dental office as assistant and I love it. I'm now in school again for dental hygiene. I can't wait to start my new found love. I still love horses, just not working with them.

My name is Scott, I was born in raised in Long Island, New York. I relocated to Florida when I was almost 15. I miss my family from New York, and of course the food and culture, but I've made a life here and I love Florida. It's been a transition for me going to college at Daytona State. I play the guitar and write music, I love the sound and smell of the beach and I love driving my mustang. I'm not 100% sure what I want to major in, but at 19, how does anyone expect me to know what I want to do with my life? I know some 40 year old's who aren't even sure yet. I want to make a difference in the world, and I will.

My name is Shelby Horinka and I am 25 years old. I was born in Deland, Florida. I was raised there until I was about 3 years old. We then moved to Ormond Beach, Florida, which is only about 20 minutes away. I am a Floridian born and raised. Honestly, I have only been out of this state twice in my life. My childhood was pretty great. It is when I got into high school that I turned into a troubled kid. I have been in and out of trouble from then until 2 years ago. I decided to get my life together and live like a "normal" human being. On November 2, 2012 I gave birth to the most beautiful little girl, Marley Jade. Since then my life has changes drastically for the better. Though she can be a pain in the butt at times, she is my world. I am currently enrolled in college, but still have not determined my major. That is only because my past is making hard to get into the field I want. I know as long as I do the footwork to what I want, I will eventually get it. Life is hard work, but well worth it.

I grew up in the age of i-phones and emails, so there was no need to write a letter when you can transmit it electronically. My name is Marina Aziz. I'm from Egypt, I just came to the United states two years ago. I'm Coptic Christian Orthodox. My dream is to become a dentist, so I came here to achieve my goal. I'm planning to get my A.A degree at DSC, then I'm going to UCF for a bachelor degree and also to attend dental school. I know Arabic, English and French. I love writing poetry in Arabic, which I used to write a lot in Egypt. My favorite sport is Volleyball. I like the teamwork and interaction with friends. I chose to be a dentist because I like curing people of pain. And tooth pain is the worst. Being a pain reliever for people is an awesome thing. I love my career so much and all of the effort required is worth the vast rewards.

I wake up every day and push myself to go in the right direction for my little girl.

My name is Brent and I'm from Daytona Beach, Florida. I was born and raised in this town by a single mother, with my younger sister. Growing up, my mother worked very hard to give us everything we ever wanted. Though we fell on hard times, due to financial difficulties that were out of our control, we always prevailed. I went through a dark period in my life where I was very depressed and full of anxiety. Through my counselors, friends, and family, I have learned that life is simple if you let it be. Whatever your past, you have a spotless future. This life is all about perception, how you see it is how it will be. Stay positive.
